1. Color Charts

Guiding Questions:
• What is the color wheel?
• Why is the color wheel inaccurate?
• What are
o Primary colors?
o Secondary colors?
o Complementary colors?
o Analogous colors?


Objectives/Goals:
• Review color mixing
• Review primary colors and how to make secondary colors
• Explore how to make colors one likes
• Review complementary colors
• Learn about analogous colors


Activities:
• Make a basic 6-portion color chart with red, yellow, and blue, and mix orange, green, and purple in the appropriate spaces.
• Invent own colors using primaries and white. Give your colors names.


Vocabulary:
• Primary colors: red, blue, yellow
• Secondary colors: purple, green, and orange
• Complementary colors- pairs of colors sitting opposite one another on the color wheel or one’s color chart
• Analogous colors- a group of colors sitting side-by-side on the color wheel or on one’s color chart
